Arizona income tax, explained
Arizona has a flat income tax: every dollar of taxable income is taxed at 2.5%, one of the lowest state rates in the country. Arizona also conforms to the federal standard deduction, so the same deduction you take on your federal return reduces your Arizona taxable income.
Because the rate is flat, your Arizona state tax is simply 2.5% of your income after the standard deduction. There is no separate city or county income tax in Arizona.

Frequently asked questions
- What is Arizona's income tax rate for 2026?
- Arizona has a flat 2.5% individual income tax rate, applied to your income after the standard deduction.
- Does Arizona have its own standard deduction?
- Arizona conforms to the federal standard deduction, so the 2026 federal amounts (for example, $16,100 for a single filer) also apply to your Arizona return.
- Are there local income taxes in Arizona?
- No. Arizona cities and counties do not levy a separate income tax, so 2.5% is the only state-level rate on your wages.
