Georgia income tax, explained

Georgia switched from graduated brackets to a flat income tax. For 2026, House Bill 463 (signed in May 2026) accelerated the rate down to 4.99% — three years ahead of the original schedule. For 2026 the standard deduction is $12,000 for single filers and $24,000 for married couples filing jointly; HB 463's increase to $15,000 / $30,000 takes effect in 2027.

Your Georgia tax is 4.99% of your income after that standard deduction.
