Indiana income tax, explained
Indiana has a flat state income tax of 2.95% for 2026, with the rate scheduled to fall again to 2.90% in 2027. Indiana has no standard deduction; it uses a $1,000 personal exemption per person instead.
Important: every Indiana county also charges its own local income tax (roughly 0.5% to 3%), which is withheld on top of the state rate. This estimate covers the state rate only — your actual withholding will be higher by your county's rate.
